Thursday 2 February 2023: SIXT Australia is set to bolster its national fleet with at
least 500 new BYD electric vehicles, further widening the range of EV’s on offer for
its customers.
More than 500 BYD electric vehicles are set to join the SIXT Australia fleet this year, with the first 200 arriving in Australia this April. The EV fleet will be available Australia wide exclusively with SIXT, at from $90 a day, making electric vehicles a more affordable rental option for Aussie travellers.
As part of SIXT Australia’s commitment to growing the largest and most wide-ranging EV fleet for hire, SIXT has signed an exclusive partnership with BYD, which will see at least an additional 500 EVs join the SIXT fleet over the next 12 months. This is an important step in SIXT’s journey towards achieving a 50 per cent EV fleet in the coming years.
From mid-2023, the BYD ATTO 3’s are expected to become the first BYD vehicles available for hire through SIXT and will offer SIXT customers an EV experience at an affordable price point.
SIXT Australia CEO, Matthew Beattie said this is another example of SIXT Australia’s commitment to leading the mobility market towards an EV future.
“Whether heading on a family road trip, a weekend away or a business trip, the BYD’s we will have in our fleet as early as April will make choosing an EV even more attractive for customers and corporates looking to save on fuel costs and minimise their footprint,” Mr Beattie said.
“The BYD ATTO 3 is an exclusive offering with SIXT for anyone looking to rent one in Australia. They offer an uncompromising EV experience with a 400km manufacturer advertised charge range. Customers who hire any EV from SIXT can take advantage of complimentary charging with NRMA’s EV fast-charging network and the National Chargefox network throughout their hire period.”
BYD has evolved from being the world’s largest battery manufacturer to a leader in electric vehicle sales worldwide, launching the ATTO 3 model in Australia which features their Blade Battery technology. In the short time since launch in 2022, BYD quickly rose to be the second leading EV car manufacturer in Australia.
Mr Beattie said as the cost of fuel remains high across Australia, there is no better time to try out an EV with SIXT and take advantage of complimentary recharging.
“As an added bonus, one of the greatest advantages of hiring an electric vehicle through SIXT is that there is no need to stop and refuel and no charge to recharge, we’ll recharge it for you so you can get on your way,” added Mr Beattie.
SIXT launched in 2021 with the largest fleet of electric vehicles in Australia and this new partnership with BYD will accelerate plans to convert half of its 16,000 nationwide rental fleet to electric in the coming years to help deliver on the nation’s net zero emissions target.
