As part of the NRMA Group, SIXT Australia shares a vision where First Australians have equal access to the social and economic opportunities that everyone enjoys in Australia. We turn these words into action through the Group Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP).
The RAP focus areas are:
- Building employment and training pathways.
- Developing cultural training and competency.
- Creating unique Australian tourism experiences.
- Growing supplier diversity.
Along with the key RAP focuses, SIXT has activated a series of other initiatives to foster an inclusive workplace. All SIXT Australia staff participate in cultural awareness training and Indigenous place names are featured at corporate site offices across Australia.
As a company we also have a commitment to:
- Partner with Indigenous organisations to assist in lower cost-effective rentals.
- Promote Indigenous tourism experiences throughout SIXT.
- Work with tertiary institutions to provide job placements for Indigenous students.
- Indigenous place names to be featured at corporate site offices across SIXT Australia.
- Participate in Indigenous calendared days of significance.
- Cultural awareness training;
The artwork
To represent the RAP and vision for reconciliation, the Group is delighted to reveal the incredible artwork, Charging Together Towards a New Dreaming, by contemporary artist and proud Kamilaroi woman Bianca Gardiner-Dodd.
Art plays a central role in storytelling for Indigenous cultures, and it is an honour to have our Group story, and reconciliation journey, told through this piece.
Hand in hand with the launch of the new artwork, we are proud to endorse the Uluru Statement from the Heart. We support the Statement’s call to enshrine a First Nations Voice in the Constitution and welcome the Federal Government’s proposal to hold a referendum.
While there is still much work to be done, it’s our belief that this is a critical step in building a better shared future for all Australians and is in line with our vision for equal access to social and economic opportunities for all.
