Katowice Pyrzowice Airport (KTW), also known as Katowice International Airport, is an international airport, located in Pyrzowice, 30 km north of the centre of Katowice, Poland. The airport has the fourth biggest passenger flow in Poland and has budget airlines travelling from all over Europe. The place where the Katowice International Airport in Pyrzowice is currently located, and through which thousands of airline passengers pass, was first used by soldiers. In 1940, the German Luftwaffe started the construction of a field airport in the meadows around Pyrzowice.
