Bodoe Airport
Bodoe Airport (BOO) in Norway is a busy regional airport. It is approximately 1.1 miles away from the town of Bodoe, near the western coast of the country. The airport offers regular domestic flights across Norway. In addition, there are regular flights to locations outside the country. Most of these flights are to other Scandinavian countries; however, there are also some flights to England and some seasonal services to Spain. Next to the airport is the interesting Aviation Museum, allowing waiting passengers the chance to learn about the history of aviation in Norway. The airport itself was opened in 1990; it was built adjacent to an existing military airfield (which dates back to the 1940s). Sixt offer car rental facilities at the airport.
Things to see and do in Bodoe
Bodoe is in central Norway. Visitors to the area (which is inside the Arctic Circle) often enjoy travelling out of Bodoe (taking advantage of cheap car hire) in order to see the Mjelde beach, which is a particularly popular summer holiday destination. Within the city sporting visitors may enjoy a visit to the Aspmyra; this stadium is home to the professional Norwegian football team Bodo/Glint. Also in the city of Bodoe is the fascinating Salten Museum; this houses Viking treasure, Sami cultural exhibits, a celebration of the Lofoten Fisheries and a local information display.
