Dublin is a capital city packed with culture and surrounded by green rolling hills.
We at SIXT would like to help you explore, with the help of the vehicle most suited to your needs. We have a vast fleet of new, up to date vehicles of varying sizes and classes that answer any budget. If you are staying in town, an economy compact car might be the ideal choice, but if you want to venture out of Dublin with the family you could choose a premium SUV.
Our well-situated pick-up and drop-off points mean you have options as to where to start and finish your trip. You could collect your car from Dublin Airport, for instance, and return it to Dublin St Stephen’s Green in the centre of the city.
Dublin car hire from SIXT includes long-term hire as well as weekly or weekend hire options. If you are staying for a longer period in Dublin, we offer long-term hire options so you can travel extensively within the city and travel further afield. The short-term options are made for those weekend breaks or short getaways.
We have a range of vehicle categories, including compact vehicles, SUVs and vans, and the bookable extras include child seats, an additional driver and sat navs. With our extensive experience, our customer service team will be able to support your mobility needs.
Here at SIXT we’re well known for our outstanding customer service. Whether you arrive in Dublin from the United Kingdom or fly in from Sydney, you can expect a warm greeting.
We know travelling can be tiring, so we do what we can to make your experience easier. You’ll find our branches at a variety of convenient locations across Dublin. Look out for the bright orange signs – we’re hard to miss!
If you arrive during office hours, you’ll get to meet our helpful staff, who’ll answer your questions and give you some tips for exploring the city. But, if you’ll be here after hours, that’s no trouble at all. You can return your Dublin car rental easily. Simply leave your vehicle in the SIXT returns area and pop your key in the drop box.

Our customers arrive in a variety of ways – and from a variety of places. To make your Dublin car hire as smooth as possible, we operate several spots around the city. That way, you can pick up and drop off your Dublin car hire wherever suits your itinerary – whether you’re heading west to see the Cliffs of Moher and spend a night or two in Shannon or south to fascinating Cork and it's beautiful surrounds.
Flying in? Book your pick up at Dublin Airport. But, if you’re staying downtown, come see us at Dublin City Centre in Q Park on Marlborough Street.
We’re also at Dublin St Stephens Green/Conrad, just south of the River Liffey, and Dublin City South, which is the gateway to Ireland’s pretty east coast.
Having picked up your Dublin car hire, take time to explore some of the city’s attractions, such as St Patrick’s Cathedral and Christ Church, before heading outside to take in the natural beauty around Dublin.
We recommend a trip to the Wicklow Mountains National Park, just under an hour’s drive from Dublin, where you can go hill walking, while taking in the striking scenery of lakes and hills.
Although the weather is unpredictable, summer in Dublin can be beautiful when the sun shines and your car hire will be very useful, especially if you are a keen golfer.
Use your Dublin car hire to take you to any number of golf courses within an hour of Dublin, such as Deer Park or Howth Golf Club.
We recommend taking a trip to the beach, too – drive out to Loughshinney Beach, just under half an hour away from the city or drive to the Howth Peninsula for some spectacular walks along the cliffs.
From lush green countryside to villages that make you feel like you’ve stepped back in time, Dublin is surrounded by spots that make for great day trips. With your Dublin car rental, you can see them all, while travelling in comfort.
If you’re a music lover, then take your Dublin car rental to Ireland’s music capital: Galway on the west coast. Here, you’ll find live music everywhere – from buskers in the streets to rowdy pubs hosting Irish sessions. Got a spare night or two? Consider heading to the Aran Islands.
To discover Ireland’s mediaeval history, make tracks for Kilkenny. This magical town, known as the ‘Marble City’, is home to a 12th century castle, cobbled lanes where you can wander for hours and a colourful arts scene.
Shimmering lakes and beautiful walks are on the itinerary at Wicklow, the ‘Garden of Island’. It’s just a 55-minute spin from the city in your Dublin car rental, leaving you loads of time to explore.
Another spot with incredible scenery is The Mournes in County Down. Spend your day exploring the enchanting Tollymore Forest Park, or commit to a longer walk, such as the 11-kilometre loop that takes in the summit of Slieve Binnian, as well as views of Silent Valley and Ben Crom Reservoirs.
For one of the most magnificent gardens in Ireland, go to Powerscourt Estate. On this 47-acre property, you can also visit the country’s highest waterfall and visit a Palladian mansion.
Many of Ireland’s most special spots are hard to reach without a vehicle. But, with a Dublin car rental, you can get to them easily – whether you want to visit tucked-away villages or explore incredible natural beauty (or do a bit of both).
If you’ve three or four days on your hands, make tracks to Killarney in the southwest. From here, you can complete one of Ireland’s most famous road trips: the Ring of Kerry. The 179-kilometre loop travels through mountains and along the coast, taking in views of the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Michael Island and the sparkling lakes of Killarney National Park.
Planning a much longer trip? Three weeks or so gives you time to drive the Wild Atlantic Way. It follows Ireland’s west coast for around 2,500 kilometres – from Kinsale in County Cork in the south to the Inishowen Peninsula in the north. The drive is a feast of natural wonders, gorgeous beaches, stunning countryside, castles, mansions and lighthouses.
Another unforgettable road trip by the sea is the Causeway Coastal Route, which runs along the northeast coast between Derry and Belfast in Northern Ireland. Highlights of this 209-kilometre journey include the Old Bushmills Distillery, the Giants Causeway and Glenarm Castle, built in the 14th century.
If you want to see Europe, but don’t want the hassle of travelling by air, take your Dublin car rental with you. There’s a variety of ways to get from Ireland to Continental Europe.
Heading to France? Catch the car ferry from Dublin to Cherbourg – or, to see some of the UK on the way, take the car ferry to Holyhead in Wales, then drive all the way to Paris, via the Eurotunnel. Meanwhile, for those with Spain on the itinerary, there are car ferries from Rosslare (in Ireland’s south) to Bilbao and Santander.
Once you’re in Europe, you’ll be spoilt for choice, as far as road trips go. In Spain, you might travel along the northwest coast, stopping by fishing villages and empty beaches. In France, consider driving south to Bordeaux, staying in Laval, Nantes and Puy du Fou on the way.
Wherever you go, you can count on your SIXT Dublin car hire to get you there. We have centres all over Europe, to make your journey as convenient as possible.
