I had an excellent experience with Sixt Car Rental’s Reeperbahn Office in Hamburg, Germany. I wanted to rent a car to get to Sandbostel, an hour and a half west of Hamburg, to see an old WWII POW Camp where my father was held during the war. The nearest rail station is ten kilometers away from the Sandbostel camp, so I absolutely needed a car. After scouring the internet for prices, I found that Sixt offered the best deal. The Sixt office was easy to find, right on the Reeperbahn, brightly illuminated and open twenty-four hours a day. I reserved a basic Opel car, and they upgraded me at no charge to a Mazda sports car. The Mazda’s GPS, though, would not give directions in English (only in German). Sixt has an attendant in the parking garage, and he tried to help me but could not get it to work, either. So they upgraded me—again, at no charge—to a marvelous BMW Z4 car, which was wonderful to drive. I had a great experience with it. When I brought the car back, the bright orange “Sixt” signs in the parking garage made locating the car return section easy. (One bit of advice I would have for renters is to get the address of the parking garage—not of the Sixt office—and program that into your GPS to guide you to the proper spot to return the car.) When I returned the car, I spoke with a very pleasant staff member in the office, Niklaus, and I told him how much enjoyed my experience with Sixt. They did their utmost to give me a great day with a wonderful car. I truly appreciated their efforts, and I highly recommend Sixt to any travelers. Best prices, fantastic service, convenient location—how can you beat that combination? Sixt is simply the best.
