Things to see and do in Sofia
Sofia is a wonderful city. It was founded by the Celts around the fifth century. Sofia has been the capital of Bulgaria since 1879 and the population of the city now stands at 1.3 million people. Visitors to the city are often seen enjoying the many historical sites, for example the magnificent Alexander Nevsky Cathedral and the nearby Boyana Church (a UNESCO heritage site). The city is also home to Bulgaria's largest library, the SS. Cyril and Methodius National Library.
